Garth Hewitt

Garth Hewitt, singer, songwriter and author, is also Director of the Amos Trust, an organization committed to issues of justice, peace, development and human rights. Garth’s experiences of the situations of poverty and conflict around the world that he has encountered have made him particularly committed to issues of justice and peace, which are reflected in the songs he has written and recorded over 35 years. Garth is currently recording a new album, Let Justice Roll! to celebrate 25 years in 2010 of the Amos Trust. His most recent book, Bethlehem Speaks: Voices from the little town cry out, is a series of interviews with Christian Palestinians in Bethlehem (SPCK, 2008).
Garth’s latest CD, Gaza, Palestine, is an EP of six songs about Gaza; four of the songs are Garth’s own, including a new one written after he received a letter from Father Musallam, a priest in Gaza; he has also included songs by Martyn Joseph, and Reem Kelani. He is Guild Vicar of All Hallows on the Wall in the City of London – a centre for organizations involved in issues of justice and art. He is also a Canon of St George’s Cathedral, Jerusalem and is also the author of several books on the Holy Land.
