Stephen Burns

Stephen Burns is Research Fellow in Public and Contextual Theology in the School of Theology, Charles Sturt University, Sydney, Australia. He was born and raised in Cumbria, north-west England, and studied theology at the universities of Durham and Cambridge. 

A priest in the orders of the Church of England, he has served parishes in the Diocese of Durham, and was formerly Tutor in Liturgy at the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education, Birmingham.

His publications include Liturgy (SCM Studyguide) (2006), Worship in Context: Liturgical Theology, Children and the City, Exchanges of Grace: Essays in Honour of Ann Loades (editor with Natalie K. Watson) (2008), The Edge of God: New Liturgical Texts and Contexts in Conversation (editor with Nicola Slee and Michael N. Jagessar) (2008), Christian Worship in Australia: Inculturating the Liturgical Tradition (editor with Anita Monro) (2009), and Christian Worship: Postcolonial Perspectives (written with Michael N. Jagessar) (2010). When not at work, he likes the beach.
