For nine years, Angela Tilby’s wisdom and humour has given food for thought to BBC Radio 4 listeners. This is a selection from her Thought for the Day broadcasts during that time.

These reflections range from topical events, such as the 9/11 or Bali bombings, to subjects of current concern in the media, such as the treatment of offenders, the situation in Israel, and marriage and divorce. There are also thoughts from Angela’s own experience and on the events of the Christian year.

Each subject receives not only personal treatment that is warm and incisive, but also consideration from a wider perspective that sees both sides of a question and which admits that ethical answers are not always simple.
